Ian worked for the British Council for 8 years as their Director of Global Web Operations. In this capacity he managed three global releases of the corporate web presence along with two content management systems. His work challenged a culturally and geographically diverse organization to realign its online presence to meet strategic objectives. The impact of this work has been seen in all 220 offices worldwide with over 400 staff trained to use the web for promoting the organization's business and reputation. His work even sponsored the creation of a new web-friendly corporate logo.
Ian is now managing his own consultancy in IT and internet related services. He has just concluded a contract with Systemscope working on a project for DFAIT. His role was to provide strategic advice for the new internationally focused web presence. This involved developing the department's online ambition and program for change.
Ian has always worked within the IT industry and has acquired technical and management expertise in satellite Earth observation, image processing, geographic information systems, content and customer relationship management, knowledge management and networking. Ian is currently working with Cisco Systems in the deployment of core IP networks for a number of UK customers.
